Powers-Swain Chevrolet, Inc. has been in business since 1961. The business was founded by Mr. C.C. Powers, Jr., and his brothers-in-law, Mr. E.L. Swain and Mr. Sigmund Swain.
Ownership of the company was transferred over to the Powers, as he bought out the interests of the Swain brothers. Mr. C.C. Powers died unexpectedly in 1984. Upon his death, his wife, Mrs. Peggy Powers assumed the leadership role of the dealership. For more than a decade, Mrs. Powers encouraged her staff to provide the same level of service to customers that they would want for themselves.
General Manager, Dr. W.C. Powers is the son of the late Mr. C.C. Powers, Jr. A dentist by profession, the younger Powers gradually assumed the leadership of the company and was appointed Dealer Operator by General Motors in 1995. Dr. Powers strongly believes that the devotion and loyalty of the company’s employees, some of whom have been with the dealership since 1962, are among the important reasons the company has succeeded for so long.
The company is an active corporate citizen and a strong supporter of Pope Air Force Base and Fort Bragg. Powers - Swain actively participates in the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s Military Affairs Council, as well as in local chapters of The Air Force Association and the Association of the United States Army.
